ASC's Preacher: ASC Born, raised, & trained
We began breeding the American Sentinel bandog in 2000, but in April of 2005 we produced Preacher-Man, Bandit, & Gator by breeding our APBT Sorrells' Captain Skip (which we obtained directly from Bert Sorrells) to an unbelievably exceptional working class English Mastiff named, Runningbear's Shadow, who we renamed to "Eclipse." What we produced from this litter defined the true bandog and many of our goals for the ultimate family companion guardian. As a result, we used these first generation dogs extensively in our line produce the refined lines what we have today.
Because of ASC's Preacher-Man's major role in our program, we listed him on this page first. He and his siblings are the foundation of our line; however, over the years refinement has been done by using additional influence predominantly from the gamebred APBTs of the Sorrells & Mayday bloodlines. In order to not sacrifice on the toughness, grit, durability, pain tolerance, or stability of Preacher-Man and his siblings, we had to be careful in our selection of what outcrosses we would use over the years to come in order to perfect the American Sentinel as a breed. The use of herder was out of the question, for it would sacrifice many of the traits we deem essential. Given the history and impressive working ability of good examples of the gamebred APBT, we carefully selected exceptional specimens to further improve agility, stamina, speed, mobility (ease of transport by the handler in a car, hiking, etc.), health, longevity, recovery time from physical work, cleanliness, and most importantly to preserve determination, which is was historically referred to in APBT circles by the term, "gameness."
